What is puberphonia?

Puberphonia refers to a persistently high‑pitched voice in males even after puberty, when the larynx has already grown and the voice should normally become deeper.

At Siva ENT, many patients are young men who sound like adolescent boys or female speakers, which can lead to embarrassment, bullying, and social withdrawal.

When should someone see an ENT?

An ENT / voice specialist review is recommended if a male continues to have a very high‑pitched voice after puberty, especially if it affects confidence, studies, or work.

The doctor will examine the throat, check vocal cord movement (often with endoscopy or stroboscopy), and rule out structural or neurological problems before planning treatment.
